Kasturi Gupta
Director for Central and South Asia
Kasturi holds a joint appointment at Yale, where she works with both the Office of International Affairs (OIA) and the Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies. At OIA she leads strategic initiatives and builds global partnerships that expand Yale’s academic engagement and institutional presence in Central and South Asia. Simultaneously, as Program Director for both the South Asian Studies Council and the Council on Southeast Asian Studies at the MacMillan Center, Kasturi oversees a broad portfolio that includes the development of scholarly programs, academic exchanges, and institutional relationships with universities and research organizations across South and Southeast Asia. Kasturi’s professional background spans over two decades in higher education administration and international program management. Before joining Yale, she managed the South Asia Center at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University and served as a program manager at the Humsafar Trust, India’s first organization focused on men’s sexual health and LGBTQ+ advocacy. Kasturi earned her Ph.D. in sociology from Syracuse University and holds a master’s degree from Pune University.
