Getrude Jeruto is the 2026–2027 Woodbridge Fellow for Communications, Research, and Africa at Yale’s Office of International Affairs. In this role, she supports Yale’s global engagement through research, communications, and initiatives that strengthen the university’s connections with Africa and its international partners.

Getrude graduated from Yale College in 2026 with a bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry. Her academic and extracurricular experiences at Yale reflected her interests in science, global engagement, community-building, and Africa. She served for two years as a Peer Liaison with the Office of International Students and Scholars, supporting incoming international students as they navigated their transition to Yale, before serving as an International Student Engagement Coordinator in her final year, where she helped create programming and community for international undergraduates across Yale. She also served as a Residential Fellow with Yale Young Global Scholars, and as a Marketing, Design, and Branding Officer for the Yale Africa Innovation Symposium, helping amplify conversations around innovation and Africa. Beyond these roles, Getrude was a founding team member and later Co-President of the Coily Curly Office, where she worked to build community and create space for conversations around textured hair, identity, and belonging. As a Woodbridge Fellow, she hopes to build on these experiences by contributing to Yale’s international partnerships and helping tell the stories of the people, ideas, and collaborations shaping Yale’s engagement with the world.
