Carol Li Rafferty
Director for China
Carol has a joint appointment with the Office of International Affairs and Yale Center Beijing, Yale’s only university-wide center outside of the United States. In this role, she is responsible for overseeing initiatives and partnerships related to China, and developing and managing Yale’s relationships with institutions, senior officials in government, businesses, and other educational entities in China. Prior to joining Yale, Carol started her career in investment banking at Credit Suisse First Boston in New York, worked as an attorney at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP and WilmerHale LLP, and served in the public sector as Senior Vice President at China Investment Corporation, China’s sovereign wealth fund. She holds a B.A. in Economics and International Studies from Yale University and a J.D. from Stanford University. She was named a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader in 2016. She is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and in the District of Columbia. She is also currently on the board of directors of a China-based Fortune Global 500 and Nasdaq 100 company.
