Council on Southeast Asia Studies
The Council on Southeast Asia Studies at Yale University oversees a multifaceted interdisciplinary program promoting education, research, and intellectual exchange on the cultures, politics, history and economies of Southeast Asia. Yale currently maintains one of the most extensive Southeast Asia library collections in the United States.
The mission of the Yale University Art Gallery is to encourage appreciation and understanding of art and its role in society through direct engagement with original works of art. The Gallery’s Indo-Pacific art collection represents the art of maritime Southeast Asia and includes about 1,900 objects, with strengths in ethnographic sculpture, Javanese gold from the prehistoric to the late medieval period, and Indonesian textiles.
