In an opinion piece published in the Washington Post on February 26, director of the Yale Institute for Global Health (YIGH) Saad B. Omer discusses the crucial role that public trust will play in mitigation efforts to reduce the effect of COVID-19.

As the outbreak expands, “the likelihood of covid-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus, resulting in a pandemic is increasing,” he writes. “Our leaders need to be honest about what that probably means in practical terms: the prospect of widespread infection in communities across the country.”
