The third webinar of our ‘Leading for Change’ conversation series took place on Friday, April 16 at 12pm ET in partnership with the Yale Undergraduate Association for African Peace and Development (YAAPD). We were joined by Marcio Burity as he discussed African Agency in International Affairs. Event was co-moderated by Eddie Mandhry and Resla Wesonga, a grad student as Jackson Institute. 

The second webinar in our ‘Leading for Change’ conversation series featured Oulimata Sarr, Regional Director UN Women West and Central Africa. Moderated by Yale’s Eddie Mandhry and Ifeoluwa Adeogun, the vice-president of the Yale African Student Association, the conversation took place March 20, 2021. The ‘Leading for Change’ conversation series was launched in October 2020 as a webinar organized by Eddie Mandhry, the Director for Africa and the Middle East at Yale. The series leverages the virtual world to facilitate public discourse about Africa and to discuss contemporary solutions to issues facing the African continent. The series seeks to create space for conversations in which insight, knowledge, and experiences are shared, with an emphasis on informing African youth. We invite inspirational speakers from across Africa and the diaspora to discuss contemporary African issues in African societies in a globalized world. For future events, we will be speaking with a number of prominent Africans in different fields about their work and priorities. We hope that these conversations will catalyze change in Africa and facilitate the public discourse to help reframe contemporary Africa.

The first webinar took place on October 23, 2020. Eddie Mandhry was joined by Simidele Adeagbo, the first Nigerian Winter Olympian and the first African and black woman to compete in Skeleton at the Olympics. Click below to watch the video recording:
