Waseda University leadership visits Yale

Aiji Tanaka, the president of Waseda University in Japan, visited Yale in late May. His visit continues a series of in-person collaboration between the two universities, with President Peter Salovey traveling to Japan earlier this year in January, along with OIA’s Director for Asia Jieun Pyun.

While at Yale, President Tanaka met with President Salovey, as well as with Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Tamar Gendler and Vice Provost for Global Strategy Steven Wilkinson. Discussion focused on gaining insight into Yale’s strategies and practices for faculty recruitment and development, endowment management, and interdisciplinary education, preparations for a range of transformative initiatives Waseda will be launching in celebration of their 150th anniversary in 2032.
