Lecture at Yale by H. E. Macky Sall, President of the Republic of Senegal

President Peter Salovey welcomed His Excellency Macky Sall, president of the Republic of Senegal, to Yale on Sept. 25th. During the visit, Sall delivered a lecture on the “Role of Africa in Contemporary International Relations” as part of the Yale Africa Initiative’s African Leaders Forum, which serves to elevate discourse on Africa at Yale and provides a unique platform for students and faculty to engage with leaders on matters of importance from across the continent. The text of President Macky Sall’s lecture is published at Yale Africa Initiative.

Sall was introduced by Yale School of Medicine Professor Amy Bei, who conducts research in Senegal centered on malaria diagnostics. He was joined by a delegation including his ambassadors to Washington and the United Nations, and several cabinet ministers. He was received by a large contingent of Senegalese members of the diaspora in the tri-state area, and a broad spectrum of the Yale community. During his campus visit, he also explored opportunities for potential collaboration in the areas of public health, environmental management, and economic development.
