A 'clarion call for action' on climate change

03/16/22

Daniel Esty, Hillhouse Professor of Environmental Law and Policy at Yale, discusses a recent report by the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and its stark analysis of the effects of climate change. The report, ‘Climate Change 2022: Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability’ is a summary for policymakers written by 270 researchers from 67 countries and approved by 195 governments, and can be accessed on the IPCC website. In a Q&A published by the Yale School of the Environment, Esty shares his thoughts regarding the key messages and next steps envisioned as a result of the report’s publication, including why he thinks some of the most positive climate change actions of the last couple of years have come from the private sector.
