Ambassador of Uzbekistan visits Yale
The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United States, Canada, and Brazil, His Excellency Javlon Vakhabov, visited Yale’s campus in February to meet with students, faculty members, and staff. The visit was arranged by a student group, Asian Crossroads at Yale (ACY), and sponsored by the Jackson School of Global Affairs.
During his visit, Ambassador Vakhabov met with students and Yale Office of International Affairs’ director for Asia, Jieun Pyun, to discuss relations between the university and the Republic of Uzbekistan. He commended the first-ever undergraduate student from Uzbekistan, Umid Usmanov ‘25, as well as its second, Rustam Nuriev ‘26, for trailblazing Uzbek students’ presence at Yale and he thanked them for helping to organize the event.
At Jackson, the ambassador met with Jeffrey Sonnenfeld, the Lester Crown Professor in the Practice of Management and Senior Associate Dean for Leadership Studies, and assistant professor of Slavic Languages and Literatures Claire Roosien to discuss the evolution of Uzbekistan’s diplomatic relations with the United States.
