Samples for malaria mosquitoes are taken in Dominica, West Indies, during a collaborative mosquito-borne disease research project between Yale School of Public Health and the Dominican Ministry of Health and Environment.

Roberto González Echevarría, Sterling Professor of Hispanic and Comparative Literatures, was recently awarded a National Humanities Medal by President Barack Obama in a White House ceremony in March 2011. A native of Cuba, he has authored, coauthored or edited more than 15 books, including studies of Calderón, Carpentier, Neruda, and Sarduy.
