Emily Bakemeier

  • Deputy provost for the Arts and Humanities

Emily Bakemeier, deputy provost for the arts and humanities, oversees—in conjunction with Tamar Gendler—the Faculty of Arts and Sciences humanities departments. She also has primary responsibility for the Schools of Art, Architecture, Drama, Music, and Divinity, as well as the Institute for Sacred Music and Yale’s Summer School for Art and Music in Norfolk, Connecticut. She serves as Yale’s liaison to the Consortium on Financing Higher Education. Her academic area of expertise is in sixteenth- and seventeenth-century northern European art, particularly early modern French royal portraiture and iconography.
