  • Astronomy Program - Yale/Chile
    Chile (2008-Present)
    Professor Bailyn is involved in the Yale/Chile joint program in astronomy funded by Fundacion Andes. This is an extensive program of collaboration between the Universidad de Chile and the Yale Adstronomy department. It has a joint graduate program, through which Chilean students come to Yale, a joint research program which makes use of the extraordinary access to research telescopes available to Chilean astronomers, and a series of joint post-doctoral fellows. Professor van Altena also works on this program particularly in the area of a joint program for astronomy and graduate education.

  • Astrophysics, an Introduction
    Chile (2008-Present)
    Offered in Santiago, Chile, this course is an introduction to astrophysics and to ground-based observing techniques. Extensive observing using research facilities at the Cerro Calan and Cerro Tololo Observatories. The program also involves field trips to other major Andean observatories.   • QUEST Project
    Venezuela (2008-Present)
    Professor Bailyn is involved in the QUEST project, directed by Professor Baltay of the physics deparment.

  • Telescope Collaborations
    Portugal (2007-Present)
    Professor Bailyn undertook telescope operation collaborations with colleagues from Portugal. These operations took place at Yale's telescope in Chile which is currently operated by an international consortium. The University of Lisbon is part of the consortium. The project has been completed.
