Business managers and administrators should remember that international transactions are often quite different from transactions in the U.S. Further, the rules and regulations change frequently. No one expects you to be an expert in international transactions or to keep current on the latest requirements.
Please seek guidance and assistance as a variety of resources are available to help:
1) Contact the Office of International Affairs (2-6240) as early as possible in the planning process or in trying to resolve a problem. Staff in the Office of International Affairs have expertise and contacts in different world regions and may be able to provide assistance.
2) Consult the FAQs on working and traveling abroad.
3)
4) The International Operations and Compliance Committee (IOCC) is available to review proposed international initiatives and to help resolve problems that arise. Offices across the University are involved with this effort including the Office of International Affairs, the Office of the General Counsel, the Division of Finance (including business operations, controller, risk management, and tax), and Human Resources. Contact Suzanne Whitty (2-6240) for further information about the Committee.
